About ROMA – 2019, there are lots of changes afoot, including new municipal councils in every part of Ontario and a new government in Queens Park that is moving swiftly to implement its commitments.

ROMA is the proud voice of Rural Ontario. That pride is reflected in the ROMA 2019 conference program which brings together a wide range of issues that are critically important to rural municipalities. Perhaps more importantly, ROMA 2019 brings together municipal leaders from all over Ontario to discuss and advance the priorities of our rural communities in an ever changing world.

Through ROMA research, outreach and advocacy work on behalf of rural municipalities, and our support for key rural initiatives, the ROMA Board ensures that the interests and priorities of rural Ontario are heard loud and clear. In late 2018 for example, working with AMO, ROMA had a major breakthrough when the Government of Ontario announced it would deal with the double-hatter situation once and for all. That is what we can achieve when rural Ontario speaks with a united, informed and authoritative voice.

Pictured below, you will find snapshots of some of the people that the Deputy Mayor and myself have interacted with so far.  We’ve been able to learn from the ROMA conference attending informative sessions and sharing good delegations with Ministry of Environment Conservation & Parks, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Community Safety & Correctional Services and with Ministry of Tourism Culture & Sport.
